Check Telenor SIM Owner Details: Verification Guide & Helpline (2026)
If your SIM card still says Telenor on the plastic, here's a fact worth pausing on: the company that issued it no longer exists as a separate legal entity. On 1 July 2026, Telenor Pakistan was absorbed into Pak Telecom Mobile Limited, the company behind Ufone. Your number still works, your package is still there, and most people haven't noticed a thing. But when a company disappears into another, small questions pile up. Who holds my registration record? Which helpline do I call? Will my SIM count show up as Telenor or Ufone? This guide answers the ones I could answer from official sources, shows the checks that work on any Telenor number, and is honest about the rest.
Nothing about your right to check your own Telenor SIM has changed. Text MNP to 667 from it, and check your CNIC's SIM count with 668 or cnic.sims.pk. Existing Telenor SIMs, numbers and packages continue during the transition, as reported. For help, Telenor's long-standing helpline is 345, but confirm current channels, since integration is happening in phases.
To see why the ground is shifting, it helps to look at how quickly this deal closed.
- December 2023PTCL announces it will acquire 100 percent of Telenor Pakistan, subject to regulatory approvals.
- 31 December 2025PTCL completes the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan.
- 19 March 2026PTA gives technical approval for the merger of Ufone and Telenor Pakistan, letting integration of systems and spectrum begin.
- 1 July 2026After the Islamabad High Court's approval, Telenor Pakistan ceases to exist as a separate legal entity. Its operations, network and customers are absorbed into PTML, under the Ufone 5G brand.
- July 2026Ufone moves into Telenor's "345" headquarters in Islamabad as part of integration.
- Later, reportedTech reports say the combined business will move to the e& brand and that the Telenor name will disappear. I couldn't find an official confirmation of the timing, so treat this as reported.
So what does that mean for you day to day? Here's the honest split between what's steady, what's moving and what nobody has said yet.
What changes for a Telenor SIM?
- Existing SIM cards, numbers, packages and mobile services, which reports say continue uninterrupted during the transition
- Your CNIC registration, and your right to check your own records with 667, 668 and the portal
- The SIM limit of five voice and three data per CNIC, across all operators combined
- Billing systems, SIM management and balance services, which reports say will be migrated in later stages
- Network integration across cities and the shared infrastructure behind it
- The brand, with reports of a move to e& that I couldn't confirm officially
- How long Telenor's helpline and franchise channels will keep running as they are
- Whether 668 and the portal will keep listing Telenor and Ufone separately, or merge them
- What porting short codes and forms will look like once systems converge
Checking Your Own Telenor SIM
The good news is that the official checks don't depend on the brand on the card. They work through PTA and the operator's records, and they work for any Telenor SIM you hold.
- Read the SIM's registration record. Put the SIM in a phone and text MNP to 667. According to PTA's MNP guidelines, the reply lists the number, registered name, CNIC, activation date and connection type. Our MNP 667 code guide covers it field by field.
- Compare the name with your card. If it's a spelling variation, it's a correction. If it's another person, it's an ownership question. Our guide to the name on a SIM explains both.
- Count your Telenor SIMs. Text your CNIC to 668 or use cnic.sims.pk. One guide reports that the results still count Telenor and Ufone separately, but that may converge as systems integrate, so read the result carefully and ask the operator if a total looks odd. Our 668 SMS code guide and portal guide show how.
- Check the type. The CONNECTION-TYPE field says PRE for prepaid or POS and PIR for postpaid variants. Our prepaid vs postpaid guide explains why it matters.
- Save it privately. Screenshot the results with the date, and don't post them anywhere.
What none of these do is show you another person's Telenor number details. There's no lawful public lookup for that, as our guide to SIM owner details by number explains, and offers promising otherwise are the kind we dissect in our guide to fresh SIM data.
Telenor Codes: What's Real
Search for Telenor codes and you'll get a confident list: an own-number code, a "BVS status" short code, a balance shortcut. Here's how they held up when I looked for an official source.
| The code or claim | What I found | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Text MNP to 667 | Described in PTA's MNP guidelines, and it works from the SIM itself | Confirmed |
| SMS to 668, or cnic.sims.pk | Described in PTA's public guidance | Confirmed |
| Telenor's own-number code, such as *8888# | Quoted by guides, but I couldn't find it on a Telenor or PTA page. Use MNP to 667 instead | Unverified |
| "Send your CNIC to 7751 for BVS status" | Repeated by guide sites, but not confirmed by Telenor, Ufone or PTA. See our note in the biometric verification guide | Unverified |
| Telenor's helpline, 345 | Long-standing, and Telenor's contact page describes a helpline and its charges. Confirm current status | Check current |
My advice is the same as always: a code isn't official because a guide says so. If you can't find it on the operator's own page or in PTA's guidance, treat it as a rumour, and use the checks in the table that are confirmed.
The Helpline, After the Merger
Telenor's contact page lists its head office at "345" in Gulberg Greens, Islamabad, and described charges per call connected to a customer relationship officer on its helpline when I saw it. The number most people know is 345, and Ufone's long-standing helpline is 333. One guide reports that both helplines remain live for now.
Since Telenor is now part of PTML, I'd climb the ladder like this:
- Try the helpline you know. Call 345 from a Telenor SIM. Charges may apply, so check the current rate on Telenor's page.
- Use Ufone's channels if that fails. Ufone's support page is the combined company's home for help, and integration is expected to bring former Telenor customers under it.
- Visit a franchise or customer service centre with your original CNIC for anything involving ownership, replacement or verification.
- Escalate to PTA on 0800-55055 or its complaint portal if the operator doesn't resolve it. For identity misuse, contact NCCIA on 1799.
Some guides also list a WhatsApp or live-chat option for Telenor. I couldn't confirm those from an official page after the merger, so I'd verify them on Telenor's site before you send any personal details. If you're interested in how the same steps look on other networks, see our guides to Jazz SIM owner details and Zong SIM owner details.
Telenor Numbers Aren't Always Telenor
A number starting 034x used to be a safe bet for Telenor. It isn't any more, for two reasons. Number portability means people move networks and keep their number, so a prefix only shows who originally received the range. And the merger means a "Telenor" line now sits inside PTML, so the label you see may say Telenor or Ufone depending on the system you ask.
The reliable way to check is to text N, a space and the 11-digit number to 76367, as our 76367 code guide explains. If the reply for a number that used to be Telenor names Telenor, Ufone or something you didn't expect, don't guess which label applies. Ask the operator how the line is recorded now.
Ownership Changes on a Telenor SIM
I couldn't find Telenor's own current rules for changing ownership, and I wouldn't want to invent them. What I can point you to is the general framework. PTA's guidelines describe ownership changes for ported numbers, with the registered owner and the user attending with original CNICs, or an authority letter for a representative. The same guidelines note that a change of ownership starts a fresh 60-day period before a number can be ported out, and that newly activated SIMs are also subject to the 365-day disowning rule.
Expect biometric verification at the counter, so it helps to read our guide to biometric verification first. If a Telenor SIM is in a relative's or employer's name, sort it out on a calm day. For businesses, our guide to corporate SIMs on an NTN explains why company lines should sit under the company, not on staff CNICs. Ask the counter which documents apply, and get the answer in writing.
Expired CNICs and Deceased Holders
PTA's April 2026 advisory about SIMs on expired, cancelled and deceased holders' CNICs applies to every operator, Telenor included. If a Telenor number is registered to someone who has passed away, or to a card that has expired, don't wait for a block. Renew or transfer first, then update the operator. Our guide to expired CNICs and SIM blocking explains the two-step fix, including what to do at the counter.
Because Telenor's processes are in transition, I'd ask two extra questions when you visit. Which entity's counter should I use, and will my SIM stay active while the update is processed? A short answer and a reference number are worth having.
Sana's Two Brands
Sana has a Telenor SIM in her phone and an old Ufone SIM she barely uses. After hearing about the merger, she texts her CNIC to 668 to see where she stands. The result shows a count for Telenor that's one higher than she expected. At first she assumes the merger has scrambled the records. Then she remembers a Telenor data SIM she put in a portable Wi-Fi device two years ago and forgot about.
The lesson is that a merger isn't usually what explains a surprise. An old registration is. Sana asks the operator to confirm the numbers registered against her CNIC, decides to keep the data SIM, and screenshots the result for her records. Sana is invented, but the sequence of a check, a surprise, a quiet explanation and a note for later is exactly how it usually goes.
Extra Telenor SIMs on Your CNIC
A merger is exactly when stray registrations get lost in the shuffle, so it's a good moment to audit yours.
- Get your count from 668 or the portal, and screenshot it with the date.
- List every Telenor and Ufone SIM you can name, including old lines, data SIMs and lines for family.
- Ask the operator for the numbers registered against your CNIC, since 668 shows counts and not numbers.
- Report unknown SIMs as unauthorised, to the operator first, then to PTA.
- Remember the cap. Both brands count toward the five voice and three data SIM limit, and our CNIC SIM check guide explains how to read the totals.
Postpaid and Business Lines
If your Telenor line is postpaid, the billing systems are among the things reported to be migrating in later stages. That's a good reason to keep your bills, deposit receipt and plan details safe, and to ask about the deposit before any changes. Our guide to prepaid vs postpaid rules sets out how dues and holds work when numbers move. If you manage company lines, check that the operator's records still match your NTN-based registration.
Balance, Packages and the Counter
Reports say that migration of billing, SIM management and balance services will happen in later stages, with services continuing without disruption in the meantime. That's reassuring, but it's worth a few sensible habits.
- Screenshot your balance and package details now and again, in case a system change ever produces a mismatch.
- Avoid leaving a large unspent balance. PTA's porting guidelines note that unused prepaid balance on a number you leave isn't refunded, so don't park money you won't use.
- Keep receipts and plan details for postpaid lines, especially your deposit.
- Before visiting a counter, ask which entity's outlet handles your request, bring your original CNIC and the SIM, and get a reference number for anything agreed.
- Read official notices only from official channels. If a message about your SIM arrives unexpectedly, check it through 668, 667 or the operator's support page, and not through a link in the message.
If any of this goes wrong and the operator can't fix it, the escalation route is the same as before: PTA on 0800-55055 or its complaint portal.
Scam Watch During a Merger
Change breeds confusion, and scammers feed on confusion. Expect messages along the lines of "Your Telenor SIM must be re-verified because of the merger, click here". I haven't seen an official notice asking for that, and the sensible response is always the same.
- Don't click links or share an OTP, whatever a message claims.
- Verify through official channels, and check your status yourself with 668 or the portal.
- Give fingerprints only at authorised outlets, never on paper or at stalls.
- Remember the law. A counterfeit message or website is what section 26 of PECA 2016 calls spoofing, and using someone's identity information without authorisation is covered by section 16.
Claims I Couldn't Verify
| The claim | What I found |
|---|---|
| "Both brands will stay live indefinitely" | Reports also describe a move to the e& brand. Timing isn't officially confirmed |
| "Calling 345 from Telenor is always free" | Telenor's contact page described a per-call charge for a customer relationship officer. Check current rates |
| Specific Telenor status and own-number codes | No official confirmation found |
| "668 and the portal will always list Telenor separately" | One guide says so for now. Systems are integrating, so this may change |
